As you may or may not know, I love to make what I call "dime store chic" pin cushions using vintage bits and pieces, fabrics, and trims. There is nothing I won't turn into a pin cushion. Case in point:
I fell in love with a vintage loooooonnnnngggggg kitty cat salt shaker and just had to challenge myself into making it into a pin cushion. I thought of several different solutions, but came up with one I think is pretty cool. I call it a "kitty barbell." Tufted vintage fabric ovals under his paws serve as the pin cushions. I have embellished them with aqua and pink doo-dads because they reminded me of a more Eames/fifties kitsch color scheme. Take a look at kitty's smiling face:
This pin cushion is so skinny that kitty could sit on the edge of a self. I love this long kitty, but as with all of my pin cushions and other creations, I must adpot him out to a good home. Long kitty will be listed later this week with other new pin cushions in my etsy shop. If you want to know exactly when that will happen, please click to the right of this post and join my Yahoo announce list.
Now...on to the next challenge! Have a great day!~~~XXOO, Beth
