Good Morning, Blogland Friends~~~~Last night hubby told me that Paul Newman passed away. I was saddened to hear that this great actor had succumbed to cancer at age 83. If you have never seen a Paul Newman movie, may I suggest three of my very favorite films of all time:
"Cat On A Hot Tin Roof". Southern drama by the great Tennessee Williams. Hot sultry sweaty and full of "mendacity." Wonderful!
The blue of Paul Newman's eyes is legendary. They never shone so bright as when he played a man who had a will to be free and live by his own rules: "Cool Hand Luke."
"Cool Hand Luke" is a film that hubby and me will watch over and over, especially for the egg eating scene. It is a prison film that will awaken your heart and make you root for the spirited Luke.
Then our son discovered Paul Newman when he voiced this wise old character:
Doc Hudson in Pixar's "Cars" was the stable and wise influence over the residents of Radiator Springs. Paul Newman used to race cars and I know playing a car was so much fun for him.
And if you haven't seen a Paul Newman film, perhaps you've seen him in your local grocery store:
From popcorn to wine, Paul Newman's Newman's Own products donate ALL profits to charity. They are organic too!~~~So, in memory of this great actor and generous human being, please pop some Newman's Own popcorn and watch any of his wonderful films. I forgot to mention his most famous film: "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid!"~~~Happy Sunday!~~~XXOO, Beth
