Hello, My Friends!~~~
I found, in the large amount of vintage Christmas I purchased last Saturday, two feathered friends...
These blue birds are made of celluloid and have something rattling inside that eventually weighs their tails down. Their beaks are very slightly open as if a small piece of paper or small card could be inserted. They perch very nicely on the rim of a glass. I don't know what the original intention was for these cute birds. Any thoughts? Please share!
In addition to the celluloid birds, today I spied a large flock of pigeons standing very still in a small grass/dirt area of a local shopping center parking lot. I love pigeons. I love their shape, the iredescent colors on their necks, and how they walk with "pigeon toes" and lots of head bobbing. I decided to park and photograph this very still flock.
I stood a respectful distance away as I didn't want to scare them. I got just the opposite reaction from the flock. As I was preparing to take another close up using the zoom option, the pigeons started walking toward me at as brisk a pace as a pigeon can walk.
I didn't use the zoom feature on the camera when I took this photo of the encroaching flock. Clearly they thought I had something for them. Not wanting to disappoint, I dug a half eaten Auntie Annie's pretzel from my car and began tossing them the tiny bits of pretzel. It was bedlam. A frenzy of pigeons surrounded me. I didn't take any photos and instead tossed them the last of the pretzel crumbs and then got into my car. These are suburban pigeoins and I was surprised at how tame they were. It was a fun diversion on a sunny winter's day.~~~XXOO, Beth
