Craft Show Sneak Peek AND Dime Store Chic Sale!

Hello, My Friends!~~

After decorating our house for Christmas, hubby, son, and I brought the bins and boxes of goodies destined for the Trinkle Hall Craft Show (follow the link to LIKE the new facebook page) up from the basement studio and into the dining room. I still need to pack things better and to price a few more goods. Just general organization tasks before we hit the road on Friday! I know Suzy has been so busy getting her fabulous creations ready, and we are so looking forward to the craft show this year and by popular request (and urgent need!) we have a bigger space for our vintage and handmade wares! Here is a sneak peek at what I will be bringing to Williamsbiurg...

Boxes everywhere! Layers and layers!

This is the biggest piece I am bringing to Williamsburg. It is a lovely large antique frame embellished with vintage holiday sparkle and cheer! It measures 24 inches tall.

Among the smaller hadmade pieces I will be bringing are ornaments! LOTS of ornaments!

This golden vintage sleigh with huge bottle brush tree is going to Williamsburg.

And so is this HUGE bottle brush tree in milk glass vase and all decorated in vintage ornaments!

Some of the vintage props we will use to display our wares (and some of the props are for sale too) including these...

...An antique coal scuttle AND very vintage wooden file drawers rescued long ago from the US Dept. of commerce in Washington, DC. Both fun props and are for sale too!

Craft Show!

Oh, my! My BFF Suzy and I are putting the finishing touches on the handmade goodies and gathering the vintage holiday (and more!) goodies for the annual craft show in Trinkle Hall on the campus of William & Mary in lovely and historic Williamsburg, VA! The craft show will be held on december 7 and 8!

Facebook? What's That?

Hello, My Friends!~~

For oh so very long I have asked myself: "Facebook? What's that?" I have a Facebook page, but I like my blog better. I sometimes would look at my Facebook page, but not with much interest. I am not anti social-network, it's that I am not very good at figuring out how to navigate the social networks. But as of late I am using Facebook more than I would have imagined. I am using Facebook to connect to anyone who may be interested in the handmade goods I freshly list in my Dime Store Chic etsy store. I discovered that it is easy peasy to post photos on Facebook--yes, I know I am WAY behind the times in figuring this out. So long story short, Dime Store Chic now has a Facebook page!

If you have a minute please hop on over and check it out. Of course if you want to "like" me there, that would be fab! So, please pardon my lateness in getting into the Facebook groove, but I fear that just as I have somewhat figutred things out there, that something new will come along. Holiday Wreath Alternatives

Hello, My Friends!~~

I love Christmas wreaths! I do! I love making them and I love looking at them, especially the wonderful-packed-full-of-vintage-holiday-sparkle that my BFF Suzy creates! Oh my, they are just breathtaking!

Suzy and I will be sharing a space in Williamsburg, VA on December 7 and 8 at The Trinkle Hall Holiday Craft Show on the campus of William and Mary. Our booth is all about vintage Christmas and we each bring our own spin to holiday decorating traditions! Suzy also makes the cutest shadow box ornaments from those sweet tiny vintage ornament boxes. Inspired by her creations, I made one of my own but used a large size vintage ornament box. A fun alternative or compliment to the wreath decorations you may have in your holiday decor!

This piece measures approx. 10 X 12 inches. And did I say over-the-top?

Another recent creation for the holidays is this wall hanging I made from a large antique book cover with the coolest illustration of a pixie riding an owl.

I added a forest of bottle brush trees for the owl to fly over as well as lots of vintage glass ornaments!

And here is a sparkly centerpiece using a vintage silver plate tray...

Lots and lots of sparkle and whimsy here!

Despite recent burns form hot glue, I surge on undeterred in my annual holiday crafting frenzy! I am surrounded by tons of vintage holiday goodies collected over the year and all of it just shouts "re-purpose me!"

Defying Gravity in Holiday Style

Hello, My Friends!~~

Sometimes when making my Dime Stroe Christmas creations, I have to defy gravity to "make it work"...

I took one well-loved vintage printed tin and wood doll buggy/cart and fixed it in place to a tinsel covered base lushly embellished with vintage ornaments.

I filled the sweet doll cart with lots of vintage cheer, including Santa, reindeer, and holiday dolly. Of course it would be complete without LOTS more vintage ornaments.

A removable, if you wish, fabric banner with jingle bells, and "Merry" on one side, and "Cheer" on the other adds the final touch.

Holiday Super Cuteness!

Sometimes I have to go well out of my comfort zone and pay a premium price for something I think will make a super cute holiday decoration.

Here is what I mean...

Isn't this the sweetest vintage elf/pixie planter you've ever seen? Four cute elves are all over this darling cottage! I just had to have it, turning a blind eye to the price. I added a bottle brush tree, a load of vintage ornaments, and another pixie. You can find this one-of-a-kind cutie here!

And here's another cutie I had to have...

This adorable little boy is trying on Santa's super-size trousers! I added a whole lot of vintage holiday joy to this sweet vintage planter. It is also in Dime Store Chic!

Buy and Brag

Hello, My Friends!~~

I have been MIA from blogland. No real reason. Just that I didn't think I had anything to share that you might find particularly interesting.

I am crafting like a mad woman for the sale in 5 weeks (gasp!) in Williamsburg, VA on the campus of The College of William and Mary in Trinkle Hall. This year, Suzy and I are thrilled to have a bigger booth so our fabulous customers won't have to elbow each other AND so we can bring LOTS more Dime Store Christmas crafts and vintage goodies to the show! Today, I visited the last of the season flea market in Arlington, VA and the DC Big Flea in Chantilly, VA. My main goal was to find smaller vintage glass ornaments for crafting purposes and I was running quite low on them. I don't really care to do a buy and brag blog post, as I'm not sure if you might find it interesting or not. Or just roll your eyes that I'm showing off. Well, roll them if you must as this time, I am proud to show you the huge amount of "raw materials" I found today for future projects.

I belive I hit my goal of getting smaller vintage glass ornaments, don't you? It took a whole lot of digging and searching!

Now it'll take me a whole lot of sorting and organizing.
