Hello, My Friends!~~

I don't think the hot glue gun has cooled down since I entered the studio yesterday. With two fabulous craft shows coming up in about a month and the abundance of holiday "raw materials" showing up in thrift shops, antique malls, and the relable stand by--estate sales, my studio is overflowing with lots of holiday inspiration!

I will list goodies as I make them in Dime Store Chic on etsy. I announce new handmade goodies on Dime Store Chic's Facebook page right after they go on etsy. I invite you to "like/follow" Dime Store Chic on Facebook so you will know when new goodies are available.

A Stack O' Bins and Boxes

Hello, My Friends!~~

In about a month we'll be heading down to Richmond, VA to participate in the fabulous Vintage Home Market!

I spent a good deal of time on Monday organizing and packing vintage goodies and one-of-a-kind holiday creations made from vintage materials for this wonderful show. The large assortment of goods were simply taking over the basement! Here is the result:

All handmade goods tucked safely away in sturday plastic bins. There are three bins to add to this stack!

A BIG stack of assorted boxes and containers! These hold the huge amount of vintage goods for the Dime Store Chic booth. I have been shopping since May just for this show!

And ten days after The Vintage Home Market, we'll head off to Williamsburg, VA to join Suzy for the wonderful Trinkle Hall Craft Show on the campus of William & Mary.

Fun & Easy Fall Wreath from Dollar Store Goodies

Hello, My Friends!~~

Our front door needed some sort of autumnal sprucing up. I challeged myself to make a wreath using only goods from the dollar store. My shiopping list included: 4 bunches of artificial flowers, glittery owl, gingham scarf, wire wreath form, and 3 bunches of artificial leaves. I also used a brown paper bag and hit glue. Ten dollars total for supplies.

I cut out leaves from the paper bag and folded them over the wire wreath form sealing them tightly over the form using hot glue to seal them together. Once I had the base complete, I lopped off the heads of the flowers and leaves and glued the leaves around the base and then layered on the flowers. I tied the gingham scarf in a bow and glued it to the bottom of the wreath.

Using more of the flowers as a "nest" for the owl, I glued them down making sure they were on nice and tight.
