Hello, My Friends!~~
When I was a child, as with most children, Christmas was a magical time. For me, in particular, I loved it when my father would put the plastic candles with the single bulb in the windows in our house. I loved going to sleep by the gentle yellow glow of the candle illuminating the closed curtains and giving my bedroom and special light. As I embellished these large candoliers with vintage holiday cheer, I thought about those times and how very special and memorable they are to me.
The house I grew up in was designed by my father, an architect, who only recently retired at the age of 82. It still is a mid-century marvel, and my parents have lived there since 1961. My mother decorated the house with Eames and Bertoia furniture and at Christmas time there were a few decorations that spoke more of the Jetsons than Currier & Ives. I crafted a couple of pretty lady mid-century vases with those holidays in mind.
These creations and many others are listed in Dime Store Chic. Thanks for stopping by and happy memories to you!
